in the trenches

This is what intense concentration looks like.
intense concentration
As a teacher, I live for intense concentration! ...and active listening. I LOOOOOVE active listening. I wonder if it's unrealistic to expect both?!? A girl can dream.

P.S. Please accept this sincere thank you for your many lovely comments as of late. Unfortunately, I haven't been the best about following up with each of you individually as I should, but I want to let you know your words brighten my day.

Ah, I wish I could say my kids looked at me this raptly when I'm talking to them. ;)

I actually came over here to show my 11 yr old your sketches because it's our art morning and he needs to sketch but doesn't know what he wants to do. Thanks for the inspiration!

I would like to thank you for your blog. I stumbled across it while looking for a picture of a bicycle. I used to be an art geek in high school, but college and work got in the way, so aside from the occasional greeting card, I haven't drawn in years. Your blog has inspired me. I am resolved to draw everyday from today onward (let's see if I can stick to that once grad school picks up).
