let the housewarming begin!

home sweet home
July,1983 : Note the haircut. The more things change, the more they stay the same.

I've always been interested in housekeeping. Not cleaning house mind you, but keeping a house. And now that we've finally unpacked all the boxes [it only took four months] and created a punch-list like no other, I'm excited to get started doing just that. I plan to share the inspiration, desperation, questions and progress here. So please, take off your shoes...or your shirt (as I seem to have an affinity for doing!)...and stay awhile!

Also, if you haven't done so already, I'd love for you to become a follower of my home away from home...or is it my home at home? Either way, seeing your little heads in my sidebar inspires me!

That picture is adorable. And I'm like you; I like keeping house, not cleaning house.

An exhaustive punch list is needed to get this new house in order as well. Perhaps you could just send me yours and save me the time...? :)

And I had that little plastic VW too. My dad was a Volkswagen mechanic when we were young, and we loved driving that thing around. He's so disappointed he didn't keep it to pass on to his grandchildren. Ours had sharp metal pedals to propel it, which would surely NOT pass safety standards in this day and age!

I'll bet you have the same proud little smile as you stand at the doorway of your new home! =)

I'm pretty sure I'm a follower already, but I'll double check.

So what goodies are you serving at your house-warming? More beautiful art, I hope! ;)

I love your other house! I always wanted one as a little girl. Alas, we had to settle for the underneath of my uncle's garage (when he wasn't home or there was trouble!).

I hope you wear more clothing in this new house!! Could make for an interesting house warming otherwise.

The photo needs to be on the cover of your book. What book, you ask? I don't know, but I'm sure you'll figure it out!

Karen- How did you ever get in my mind and read what I would try to do if I 'knew I could not fail'?!?!

Okay, I know this is crazy, but I just scrolled past this photo again and realized I had that kitchen set in the background as well. I still remember the way it smelled-like wood. It was the best!

LOVVVVVVVE it! I want that house. Certainly I'd quite like to draw it - a lot! That is the cutest thing. And, YES, the book cover, containing all of your 'around the house' drawings.

Andrea--PLEASE draw! My dad actually built it as a treehouse for my oldest sister Betsy...by the time it got to me it looked like this, but has since been reinvented again for my niece. I'll see about posting more photos sometime!

This takes the cake as the most adorable photo you've posted! It's interesting that on the same day you posted this, I came to see your lovely new home. I'll blame the cold weather, however, for you not greeting me in the same fashion as your pic! Can't wait to hear about what you'll do next.
