a tale of two sleepers

sleepygiraffe
We received this sleepy little giraffe (it plays soothing sounds) as a gift at this past weekend's baby shower. If the last two nights are any indication, the boys are going to have their work cut out for them in reclaiming it from dad. I'm thinking my 35-year-old-baby is already quite attached!

Now, if only I could get it to work for me. With approximately a month to go until B-Day!, the times of being comfortable seem to quickly be coming to an end. I feel amazingly lucky to have had the smooth pregnancy I've enjoyed thus far, but as the babies grow I find I'm having less room to breathe, to eat, to sleep... This all leads to shortness of breath, heartburn, regular bouts of insomnia [i.e. why I'm writing the draft of this post at 4 AM] and even more daytime napping. For this reason, I've made the decision to refrain from taking on any new custom work for the next bit. Edgar and I will, however, be updating the shop with newbies on an even more regular basis, so I'll hope you'll check in there if you're in need of a special gift.

Ahhh...the giraffe is so sweet. I know for a fact that my 27 year old daughter would also fall in love with it. Sounds like mother nature is doing her thing in making life less comfortable for you at the moment, hence you will be more than ready to see the boys:)

That is the cutest stuffed animal I've ever seen! This last stretch of the pregnancy is a pain; I hope time passes by quickly for you and that you'll get lots of naps in.

Hi Suzanne, I would love to have prints of or similar to this giraffe! The whimsy and calmness are adorable and perfect for a wall, in a set, for kids, or just for me! If this shows up in your etsy shop, you'll have one definite customer here!

You put a lot of love in that giraffe!! I can see that!! Just hang on for another month! Hope you're doing just fine, all three of you! (or more four of you, as dad must have a lot of pressure to, he he)

Glad to know that you're taking care of yourself and resting! That last month can be tough as you find yourself being totally crowded out of your own body! I've been thinking about you lots. Much love!

Good luck with the next month, not sure where Greensboro is but I hope it isn't to hot. I'll second the wish that this wonderful painting makes it into your shop as a print. It's whimsical without being sentimental, I love it.

I second putting this in the etsy shop, this would go perfect with my nephew's room!

I don't know how you are doing it. I am pregnant with my second (and only one inside) and still have about 9 weeks to go, and I complain and have complained for quite some time, how uncomfortable I am. It is the worst when you finally find that "manageable" position when trying to sleep, but then baby has other plans and kicks, kicks, kicks. Good luck in your every day with your pregnancy.

I LOVE this watercolor sketch! Perhaps your hubby should keep this one since you'll need to have two of them for the boys.

Best wishes with getting your sleep Suzanne. I remember how tough it in that last month - and I only had one in my belly at a time :-)

Aren't all the toys and clothes for the babies fun, though? Love that painting!

Abernathy is a shaggy stuffed elephant I was given at a baby shower over 7 years ago. My son never received it. However, I sleep with him every night and I'm 28.

Don't exactly know where the attachment comes from, but I love that damn elephant!

I'd let dad keep him.
